The Hermes Project
Hermes – In Greek mythology, Hermes is the messenger and emissary of the gods. Aided by his winged sandals, he is able to move quickly and freely between the divine and Mortal worlds as the protector of human heralds and travellers.
The Hermes project provides a highly secure way for everyone to access the internet. Currently, advanced security measures like XDR/EDR (Extended and Endpoint Detection and Response) and IDS/IPS (Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems) are primarily used by medium-to-large enterprises and government entities.
Network security is a critical component of effective information security. It’s crucial to understand that if someone can control the network you use or intercept your communications, traditional security measures like antivirus software or firewalls become ineffective.
We are using SIM cards with Raspberry Pi boards and open-source software to create a transparent and reliable way for people to access the internet. This setup includes Ubuntu/Alpine Linux, OpenWRT, Wazuh (for XDR), and Zeek (for IDS/IPS) to ensure the confidentiality, availability, and integrity of network connections.
Our right to privacy is like our right to free speech, our right to not be discriminated against, our right to earn a livable wage or to access medical care. Most of us take these rights for granted most of the time, but these rights need to be constantly nurtured and where necessary, vigorously defended.
